Adorned with a touch of sparkly purple amethyst, this colorful variety is found in the Southern Alberta province of Canada. The National gemstone of Canada, where an inland ocean dried up creating fossils in a bed of shale called the Bear Paw shale layer. When rivers cut through this deposit, the beauty of the this stone was reveled. Paleontologist’s believe the shale is what protected the stone and preserved the color. Most Ammolite found has very little to no play of color. Amazing!
